Last June 12, 2007, the Sangguniang Barangay of Merville held its own Independence Day Rites to commemorate the 109th Years of Independence of the Philippine from foreign tyranny. The same ceremonies were also held throughout the Philippines.
Significantly, this year's celebration of Barangay Merville on Philippine Independence Day was joined by its neighboring barangay, Barangay 201, Zone 20, Pasay City led by Punong Barangay Pinky Lyn Francisco. It was also joined by some religious organizations such as the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5922 led by Grand Knight Sir Knight Nicolas O. Carranceja (Merville Park), Knights of Columbus Kagitingan 4th Degree Assembly led by Faithful Navigator Sir Knight Ruben L. Gutierrez(covering the cities of Parañaque, Pasay and Muntinlupa)and Knights of Columbus District P-21 led by District Deputy Sir Knight Saturnino J. Galang, Jr. (covering the areas of Merville, South Admiral Village and Sun Valley in Parañaque City and Kalayaan Village in Pasay City).
The ceremonies were highlighted by the awarding of certificates of recognition to the Sangguniang Barangay of Merville led by Punong Barangay Gloria C. Gutierrez given by Barangay 201, Zone 20, Pasay City, Knights of Columbus Council No. 5922 and Knights of Columbus Kagitingan 4th Degree Assembly.

The ceremonies started with a Holy Mass officiated by Monsignor Armando "Boy" Villarruz, Our Lady of Beautiful Love Parish (Merville Park) Pastor assisted by Kagawads Dr. Dante A. Mendoza and Dr. Edgar G. Caballero (standing at the rostrum).
The 2 Kapitanas: Punong Barangay Pinky Lyn Francisco of Barangay 201, Zone 20, Pasay City joined Punong Barangay Gloria C. Gutierrez at the start of the ceremonies.
